Well fall is here and the leaves are turning!  It a great time to go for a nice drive to look at real estate.  Our local real estate market has held its own compared to the lower 48 so there are some great buys out there.

According to the Alaska MLS, there are 775 homes for sale in the core area. There are 207 that have accepted offers on them, and 707 have sold since the 1^st of January. Last year at this time 648 had sold. So, as far as the number of homes sold in the core area last year compared to this year we have sold 59 more homes year to date. That is an 8.3% increase.

The average sales price is about the same at $220,000. Interest rates are still INCREDIBLY low. If you are thinking of buying, the selection is great and the rates won’t get any better. The experts that were surveyed had this to say: 20% believe that rates will go up in the next 30-45 days; 30% believe that rates will go lower; and 50% believe that rates will stay the same.

Today, 30 year conventional rates are at 4.5%. I don’t see how they can get much lower. There are some great deals out there with foreclosures and pre-foreclosures (short sales). If you would like information on any of these types of properties, just give us a call!
