The Willow Homes Market

Willow's position as a center for recreation and tourism means there is a wealth of vacation rental properties available throughout its corner of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley! The rental properties as well as the Willow homes for sale lie along the banks of a sparkling series of lakes and the slow-moving waters of Susitna River. Many of the homes in the community mirror the surrounding natural landscape, embodying a rustic style reminiscent of the early pioneers in the region.

The origins of the sleepy small town can be traced back to the discovery of gold back in 1897 along Willow Creek. In this way, its origins mirror many of the other small communities in this part of Alaska, starting out as a sparse tent city situated around a natural resource growing larger with the advent of the railroad. By 1954, Willow had established itself as Alaska's largest gold mining district and an important part of the state's economy. Willow was nearly made the state capital in the late 1970s!

Willow Community Highlights:

  • New official start of the infamous Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
  • Gateway to numerous beautiful lakes & Nancy Lake State Recreation Area.
  • Charming & sleepy small-town setting.
  • Beautiful lakefront properties available with stunning views of Mount Denali.
